Featured Vitamin of the Month: Omega-3 Fish Oil

Supports

Heart, Eye, & Brain Health

Fish oil contains omega-3 fatty acids which are necessary for many functions of the body, for example, cell growth and muscle activity. Omega-3 fatty acids are not produced in the body, so we must get it from the food we eat. There are two omega-3 fatty acids in fish oil, docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). Dietary sources of DHA and EPA are fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, and trout, alone with shellfish, such as mussels, oysters and crabs. A third omega-3 that is derived from nuts, seeds and vegetable oils is called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).
