HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM DR. OMAR BEY

The holiday season is upon us and there will be lots of good food to have.

In this season enjoy your soul food, but think about adding a side salad to your meal or eating 1/2 a serving less than usual of mac and cheese. Also think about taking a walk after you eat to get some fresh air, some exercise, and a moment with yourself or a loved one. Whatever you celebrate make sure to enjoy and make healthy choices.

Happy Holidays!

Featured Vitamin of The Month:

Vitamin D3

Supports:

Immune System Health

Healthy Bones & Teeth

Vitamin D promotes calcium absorption in the gut and maintains adequate serum calcium and phosphate concentrations to enable normal bone mineralization and to prevent hypocalcemic tetany (involuntary contraction of muscles, leading to cramps and spasms). It is also needed for bone growth and bone remodeling. When combined with calcium, vitamin D helps protect older adults from osteoporosis.

Vitamin D has other roles as well, such as reduction of inflammation and helping with such processes as cell growth, neuromuscular and immune function, and glucose metabolism.

The body makes vitamin D when direct sunlight converts a chemical in your skin into an active form of the vitamin (calciferol).
